begins March 2nd) +

5:30-6:30PM

Purpose of the Class
The purpose of the class is to help participants strengthen concentration
and calm the mind-body through mindfulness meditation. When we calm the
body-mind, we lay the foundation of going further – to actually see the
workings of the mind. When we can do this, we can see both beneficial and
sometimes harmful patterns. We can begin to learn what is useful and also
how we can make changes for greater happiness.

introduction and time at the end for questions.
Meditation, Psychotherapy and Medical Conditions
Meditation is a complement to many forms of psychotherapy and medical
conditions. Your mental health therapist or physician is still your
primary caregiver.
Who Should
Attend?
This class is intended for adults. No prior experience is necessary.
The class is participatory in the sense that you are expected to give the
practices a try. You do not need to have any special body type.
All movement activities are very gentle. The most important
pre-requisites are your attitude - patience, kindness and willingness -
rather than looking for a "quick fix."
What to Wear
If possible, try to wear clothing that does not constrict the waist and
shoes that can be slipped off or are comfortable to walk in. The
movement exercises are designed for people who work and it is understood
you may be in business attire, so there is no need for special clothing.
Classes will involve up to 20 minutes of mindful and gentle movement which
may include walking or stretching. In most cases, walking or
stretching will be in the classroom or nearby, and we will not be going
outside.
Meditation Props
Meditation will be done in chairs. There are no cushions or mats,
but you're welcome to bring your own if you have them.
