Mindfulness meditation is a practice
of mental training that involves concentration (on a single object)
and mindfulness (present moment accepting awareness).

What Happens in a Class?
Each class includes an introductory talk, instructions on posture and
technique, and a guided meditation. The guided meditation includes periods of silence to practice on your own.
Participants are offered resources for further study and tips on how
to continue practicing at home or during non-class times.
Who Should
/ Should Not Attend
Beginners and experienced individuals, adults and adolescents, with
an open mind and interest in learning meditation are welcome.
Meditation is not recommended
for individuals with untreated substance abuse.
What to Wear / Bring
Students do not need any special equipment. Warm,
comfortable, non-restrictive clothing is encouraged. The room is set
up with chairs and tables. If you prefer to sit on the floor, please
bring your own pillow and mat.

Fees
Individual Class - $12/class
EAP Sessions * - 6 classes
* If you work for a company with an LMA EAP, you may use one EAP session
which is for 6 classes. Classes must be used before end of EAP
contract. No refunds for unused classes.

About the Presenter:
Holly Gardner Socolow is the Manager of Employee Assistance Services at
LMA. Holly was first introduced to meditation in 1982. Since
then, she has developed a regular meditation practice, and attended numerous meditation retreats and
seminars, including the internationally recognized University of
Massachusetts Stress Reduction Clinic on Mindfulness Based Stress
Reduction developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn. |
