About the Program


It's critical that all employees are working to the standards set as a team.  Even with great teamwork, there are times when our employees can be faced with personal situations that affect them.

These situations not only take an individual human toll, they can have a direct impact on work performance and, over time, the morale of the team. As managers and supervisors, it is in our best interest to know about and avail ourselves of the full range of services available to us through the EAP, so that we can both support employees and meet our objectives.

80% of employees call the EAP on their own, and 20% call only at the suggestion of their supervisor.  Examples where you can help an employee connect with the EAP - when you are aware of:

  1. Employee discusses personal problems at work.
  2. Employee has sliding performance when previously it met standards.
  3. Employee makes odd or extreme statements that could result in a danger to self or others.
  4. Work team is affected by a critical incident such as the death of a co-worker.

In these situations, it is helpful to know when and how to step in.

Ms. Socolow is Manager of Employee Assistance Services at LMA.  Ms. Socolow holds a Master's Degree in Human Services, is a Certified Employee Assistance Professional, and Certified Critical Incident Stress Debriefer. Ms. Socolow has 27 years experience in human servicesHer work at LMA involves EAP consulting with business owners and managers to help employees get help, critical incident response, and wellness training programs.  She teaches a weekly meditation class at LMA.
