DOT-CDL
REFERRALS
LMA can help your organization
become compliant with DOT CDL guidelines. LMA's Substance Abuse
Professional (SAP) meets the revised DOT standards effective January 1, 2004.
The DOT/CDL is an intervention
program when a CDL driver has tested positive for alcohol or other controlled
substance. The program is designed to protect the public from impaired
drivers, the employers from risk, and provide the employee an opportunity to
address potential substance abuse problems through treatment programs.
CDL referrals are unique to DOT
and must follow those guidelines. LMA SAP services include:
-
Thorough face-to-face chemical
dependency evaluation
-
Consultations as necessary to
complete evaluation, e.g., Medical Review Officer (MRO)
-
Referral for education or
treatment (no exceptions)
-
Follow-up face-to-face
re-evaluation to determine successful compliance with initial
recommendations and readiness to return to safety sensitive position.
-
Written report to "Designated
Employee Representation" (DER) whether employee has successfully carried out
recommendations, and follow-up drug and/or alcohol testing plan.
Report may include recommendations to employee and employer for continuing
education and/or treatment.
