Studies
have shown that many people are really not happy with the work they do,
but don't know what to do about it. As a result, our companies don't
get our best abilities while we find little satisfaction in our jobs.
Sounds like a "lose-lose" situation, doesn't it?
We have good news:
Career services through your EAP can help you (as well as
your spouse or dependents) in this area. We like to call this
helping your company to "take advantage" of you by helping you find where
you can be "the best you can be" at work. As you identify your
strongest interests, most deeply-held values and most satisfying skills,
you can work on replacing that "lose-lose" with a "win-win" situation:
your company gets the most from you and you experience greater
satisfaction in your work. Does this
mean that you will have the "Perfect Job?" Not necessarily.
After all, you're not perfect! It does mean, however, that you can
gain much more satisfaction from your work while giving your best to the
company at the same time.
How is this done? Sessions for
career services are covered by your EAP, while the cost of assessments (if
used) is your responsibility. Each situation is unique; our
work together is completely confidential and customized to your needs.
Following are some of the areas in which we can help.
Assessment
Assessment can help you identify issues that should be considered in
growing in your career.
- Your interests and skill confidences
compared to successful and satisfied workers in a wide range of
occupations (who you are most like).
- Aptitudes and skills: abilities
you have and those you could develop.
- Personality and style: your best
organizational fit.
- Leadership potential, effectiveness and
preference: how you would manage and how you like to be managed.
- Specialized assessments for specific
areas such as sales and customer service.
Career
Investigation
We help you use the personal information you've gathered to look at
opportunities in your organization.
- Turning the data you've gathered into
action steps, considering what to do next.
- Guiding you through your research to
make the best decisions you can.
Decision
Making
We work with you in developing and taking specific action steps to
move ahead in your career and life.
- Personal development plans:
taking steps to grow as a person and as a worker.
- Education / training considerations:
evaluating your opportunities to learn.

And More...
Career services can include other areas, such as helping a child
make a decision about education or work, preparing for an interview,
drafting a resume for a new opportunity at work, deciding whether or
not to apply for a promotion, etc.
